Unboxing and Initial Setup

The journey to self-custody begins the moment you unbox your Trezor. Inside, you'll find the device itself, a USB-C cable, recovery seed cards, and a lanyard. Your first and most critical step is to always purchase directly from the official Trezor shop to avoid tampered devices. Upon first connect to Trezor Suite, the device will guide you through firmware installation and the generation of your unique recovery seed phrase.

The Sacred Recovery Seed

This 12 to 24-word mnemonic phrase is the master key to your entire wallet. Write it down by hand on the provided cards. Never digitize it—no photos, no cloud storage, no text files. Store it in a secure, offline location, like a fireproof safe. Anyone with this phrase can access your funds. The device will prompt you to re-enter these words to verify your backup, a crucial step you must not skip. This seed is your ultimate lifeline if your Trezor is lost, stolen, or damaged.

Sending and Receiving Crypto

Using your Trezor is straightforward. To receive crypto, connect your device, open Trezor Suite, select the desired coin, and click "Receive." The Suite will generate a receiving address, which you should verify on the Trezor's screen matches the one on your computer. To send, enter the recipient address and amount in Suite, then carefully review the transaction details on your Trezor's display. Confirm the payment on the device itself. This two-step verification ensures you approve every movement of funds. With these steps mastered, you are in full, secure control of your digital assets.
